The performance of hydroxyethyl methylcellulose in ceramic tile adhesive: good anti-sag effect, long opening time, high early strength, strong high temperature adaptability, easy to stir, easy to operate, non-stick knife, etc.
Product properties
Water solubility and thickening ability: Hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is soluble in cold water, forming a transparent and viscous solution.
Easily soluble in organic solvents: Due to the presence of a certain amount of hydrophobic methoxy groups, hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is soluble in some organic solvents and solvents in which water and organic matter are mixed.
Salt tolerance: Since hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is a non-ionic, non-polymer electrolyte, it is relatively stable in aqueous solutions of metal salts or organic electrolytes.
Surface activity: Aqueous solutions of hydroxyethyl methylcellulose are surface active and therefore have an emulsifying effect.
Thermal gelation: When heated above a certain temperature, the hydroxyethyl methylcellulose aqueous solution becomes opaque and precipitates, causing the solution to lose viscosity. But gradually cools and transforms into the original solution state. The temperature at which coagulation and precipitation occurs depends on the type of product, the concentration of the solution and the heating rate.
Low ash content: Because hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is non-ionic and can be efficiently refined with hot water during the preparation process, the ash content is very low.
PH stability: The viscosity of hydroxyethyl methylcellulose aqueous solution is hardly affected by alkali. This product is relatively stable within the pH range of 3.0-11.0.
Water-retaining effect: Since hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is hydrophilic and its aqueous solution has high viscosity, adding it to mortar, plaster, paint, etc. can maintain the high water-retaining effect of the product.
Shape retention: Compared with other water-soluble polymers, the aqueous solution of hydroxyethyl methylcellulose has special viscoelastic properties. It is added ribbed to improve the ability of extruded ceramic articles to retain their shape.
Lubricity: Adding this product can reduce the friction coefficient of extruded ceramic products and cement products and improve lubricity.
Film-forming properties: Hydroxyethyl methylcellulose can form tough, flexible, transparent sheets with good oil and ester resistance. It can very well increase the viscosity of cement mortar. Using fresh mortar with appropriate viscosity can remain stable without bleeding for a certain period of time, making the mortar very easy to smooth and effectively improve the construction performance.
