Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose(MHEC)
Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose(MHEC) is also known as Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose(HEMC), it is non-ionic white methyl cellulose ether, It is soluble in cold water but insoluble in hot water. MHEC can be used as high efficient water retention agent, stabilizer, adhesives and film-forming agent in construction, tile adhesives, cement and gypsum based plasters, liquid detergent ,and many other applications.
Physical and chemical properties:
Appearance: MHEC is white or almost white fibrous or granular powder; odorless.
Solubility: MHEC can dissolve in cold water and hot water, L model can only dissolve in cold water, MHEC is insoluble in most organic solvents. After surface treatment, MHEC disperses in cold water without agglomeration, and dissolves slowly, but it can be quickly dissolved by adjusting its PH value of 8~10.
PH stability: The viscosity changes little within the range of 2~12, and the viscosity decreases beyond this range.
Granularity: 40 mesh pass rate ≥99% 80 mesh pass rate 100%.
Apparent density: 0.30-0.60g/cm3.
MHEC has the characteristics of thickening, suspension, dispersion, adhesion, emulsification, film formation, and water retention. Its water retention is stronger than that of methyl cellulose, and its viscosity stability, mildew resistance, and dispersibility are stronger than that of hydroxyethyl cellulose.

1. Cement mortar: improve the dispersibility of cement-sand, greatly improve the plasticity and water retention of mortar, have an effect on preventing cracks, and can enhance the strength of cement.
2. Ceramic Tile adhesives: Improve the plasticity and water retention of the pressed tile mortar, improve the adhesive force of the tile, and prevent chalking.
3. Coating of refractory materials such as asbestos: As a suspension agent, fluidity improver, it also improves the adhesion to the substrate.
4. Gypsum slurry: improve water retention and processability, and improve adhesion to the substrate.
5. Joint filler: It is added to joint cement for gypsum board to improve fluidity and water retention.
6. Wall putty: improve the fluidity and water retention of putty based on resin latex.
7. Gypsum Plaster: As a paste that replaces natural materials, it can improve water retention and improve the bonding strength with the substrate.
8. Paint: As a thickener for latex paint, it has an effect on improving the handling performance and fluidity of the paint.
9. Spray coating: It has a good effect on preventing cement or latex spraying only material filler from sinking and improving fluidity and spray pattern.
10. Cement and gypsum secondary products: Used as an extrusion molding binder for hydraulic materials such as cement-asbestos series to improve fluidity and obtain uniform molded products.
11. Fiber wall: Due to its anti-enzyme and anti-bacterial action, it is effective as a binder for sand walls.
