Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) helps building materials apply easier and perform better. They provide water retention and binding to the mix. After special modification, it can be used to control the thickening, water demand, workability, sag resistance, strength and other important properties of the final product.
Widely used as thickener, adhesive, water retaining agent and film-forming foaming agent in building materials, industrial coatings, synthetic resins, ceramic industry, medicine, food, textile, agriculture, cosmetics and other industries.
Architectural applications:
Exterior Insulation System (EIFS)
>Bond strength: HPMC can provide the maximum degree of high bond strength of mortar.
>Performance: The mortar added with HPMC has a moderate consistency and does not sag. When used, the mortar is easy to work continuously without interruption.
>Water retention: HPMC can easily wet the wall insulation material, easy to paste, and can also make other additional materials achieve the best effect.
>Water absorption: HPMC can minimize the amount of air entrainment and reduce the water absorption of the mortar.
Interior and exterior wall interface agent
>Easy to mix, no agglomeration: HPMC can significantly reduce the friction in dry powder during mixing with water, which is easy to mix and saves mixing time.
>Water retention: HPMC can significantly reduce the moisture absorption of the wall. Good water retention can ensure that the cement has a longer compounding time, and it can also ensure that workers can scrape the putty on the wall many times.
>Good stability of working performance: Even in high temperature environment, HPMC can still maintain good water retention. Suitable for construction in summer or hot areas.
>Increased water demand: HPMC can significantly increase the water demand of putty materials. On the one hand, it improves the working time after putting the putty on the wall, on the other hand, it increases the coating rate of the putty, making the formula more economical.
tile adhesive
>Water retention: HPMC can reduce the moisture absorbed by the substrate and tiles, and keep the moisture in the adhesive as much as possible, so that the mortar still has adhesion after long-term coating. Significantly extend the opening time, so that workers can paint a larger area each time and improve efficiency.
>Improve bonding strength and improve anti-slip performance: HPMC ensures that the tiles will not sag during work, especially suitable for heavy-duty tiles, marble and other stone materials.
>Working performance: The lubricity of HPMC can significantly improve the workability of the mortar, making the mortar easy to apply and improving the efficiency.
>Improving the wettability of mortar: HPMC imparts consistency to the mortar, enhances the wetting ability of the mortar and the substrate, and increases the bonding strength of the wet mortar, especially suitable for formulas with high water-cement ratio;
caulk
>Workability: provide suitable viscosity, plasticity, and easy processing;
>Water retention: It can fully hydrate the slurry, prolong the working time and avoid cracking.
>Anti-hanging: HPMC can make the slurry have strong adhesion on the surface without hanging;
self leveling mortar
>Prevent bleeding: HPMC can play a very good role in preventing slurry from settling and bleeding.
>Maintain fluidity and improve retention: low-viscosity HPMC will not affect the slurry flow effect, and is easy to operate. At the same time, it has a certain water retention, so that the surface effect after self-leveling is good, and cracking is avoided.
Gypsum-based stucco
> Water retention: HPMC can keep the moisture in the mortar, so that the gypsum is completely solidified. The higher the viscosity, the stronger the water retention capacity, and vice versa.
>Sag Resistance: Allows workers to make thick coatings without causing ripples.
> Mortar yield: For a fixed weight of dry mortar, the presence of HPMC can provide more wet mortar.
