Properties and applications of ethyl cellulose

Physical and chemical properties of ethyl cellulose:

Ethyl cellulose (EC) is an organic soluble cellulose ether made from natural cellulose as the main raw material through chemical reaction processing. It belongs to non-ionic cellulose ethers. Appearance is white to slightly yellow powder or granules, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic.

1. Insoluble in water, low hygroscopicity, low residue, good electrical properties
2. Good stability to light, heat, oxygen and humidity, not easy to burn
3. Stable to chemicals, strong alkali, dilute acid and salt solution
4. Soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, ketones, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, etc., with good thickening and film-forming properties
5. Good compatibility and compatibility with resins, plasticizers, etc.

Wide range of applications

Industrial grade products:
Epoxy zinc-rich anti-corrosion and sag resistance for containers and ships. Used as a binder for electronic paste, integrated circuits, etc.

Pharmaceutical grade products

1. For tablet adhesives and film coating materials, etc.
2. Used as a matrix material blocker to prepare various types of matrix sustained-release tablets
3. Binders, sustained-release and moisture-proofing agents for vitamin tablets, mineral tablets
4. For food packaging ink, etc.
